The Old and the New in SA

Currently on  "The Lap" we are pulling out of Arno Bay.

Having just been to Whyalla, its disturbing talking to the the locals at the South Whyalla Football clubabout the future of the town.

With Arrium in receivership, its a huge issue here.

Nearly everyone in the town has a family member that is employed by them, our is a contractor supplying a service, or was involved in the past, and is now retired here.

But they owe $4 billion, so a huge task to trade out of difficulty.

Who has the guts to put their own super money up, to bail them out?

But Something needs to happen, or the whole area will be out of work, and become another Detroit.

Just down the road there is Clean Seas Tuna, surely this is the new way forward, feeding the world and the dining boom in Asia?

Well unfortunately their share price performance and shareholder return doesn't seem much better than Arriums.

So who's to blame for all this, maybe management, maybe global circumstances.

But we can't rely on the Sydney and Melbourne housing boom to employ us all!

One things certain, it will take some real leadership to sort it out!
